Schmidt injured himself swinging at a pitch last Thursday and had X-rays taken in Philadelphia that revealed no fractures. . . . The club record for SSs is Granny Hamner’s 17 in 1952. . . . 1B Von Hayes, who leads the league with 39 walks, is on a 160-walk pace. The league record is 148.
